DESCRIPTION:Dark\, disturbing and twisted is how I would describe David Lynch’s private collection of art\, short films and lithographs. I wasn’t expecting this based on his films\, but you can see where his films get some of their moments from the exhibition. The depths of the late Lynch’s mind are uncovered as never before at the DOX centre for contemporary art.

DESCRIPTION:Taipei’s National Palace Museum has lent 100 precious items from its collection to the Czech National museum. Between ancient scrolls and jade carvings\, the curators have put together an incredible viewpoint on the Qing dynasty. I’ve missed this so far\, but since the loan runs out at the end of 2025\, I’d best hurry!

DESCRIPTION:I’m excited about Gunther von Hagens’ Body Worlds exhibition; partially because I missed it when it was in Prague\, and partially because I’m fascinated by the idea of plastination. The exhibition is as entertaining as it is educational\, showing how the human body works and functions in an eye-popping way. It’s at Westfield Chodov shopping mall\, so it’s open when the mall is\, but you still need tickets for entry.

I had no idea of the drive and determination that Františka Plamínková had\, or of the huge and positive effect she had on the nascent Czechoslovakia. SUMMARY:Lighting up the Charles bridge
DESCRIPTION:Prague’s Charles bridge is possibly the last bridge in the world that still has gas lighting. It’s a sweet touch for the medieval city and when Christmas comes round\, Prague does us one better. The gas lights are lit by hand starting at dusk\, around 4:00 pm. The whole process takes some time because many stop to take selfies with the lamplighter. It’s something to enjoy at this time of year\, everyday till 23 December.

SUMMARY:Christmas concert in the Klementinum
DESCRIPTION:The magnificent acoustics in St Salvator church make it an ideal venue for concerts\, but I tend to avoid it because of the tourist crowds. Am I being unfair? Maybe. I recently went back for a Mozart-themed one which was heavenly (ha!)\, and I’m delighted to see they’re doing Christmas concerts every day in December. Who’s bringing the mulled wine?
