I've been a fan of the Buddha-bar franchise for 2 decades and I love their Prague location. It may not have the Atlantic backdrop of the now-defunct Buddha-bar Lisbon, or the opulence they have in Hungary but this does not diminish the experience, in my opinion.
The theatre around cooking your own meal is often, wrongly, sniffed at by customers who think they're in a restaurant to be cooked for. These snobs miss the point that eating is a social affair, where you can share thoughts, jokes and the food you're eating.
Newly opened, Reason restaurant is going to raise the bar for fine dining. The wrap-around 360 degree view of Prague from the top of the Masaryčka towers is not even the most remarkable fact about it! The food is artfully prepared through a deep understanding of Czech food and culture, as well as the circular economy.
Boasting a magnificent view - from the Old Town Square to Letna - Golden Eye is a stunning Asian restaurant I really enjoyed their Ube Halaya which is an Oriental variant of a Ramos Ginn Fizz, and their topical twists on familiar cocktails are what will keep me coming back for more!
I've enjoyed many a cocktail at the Mandarin Oriental's bar, so I knew what to expect at their Monastiq restaurant. They call their menu "contemporary Czech" but I think they're doing themselves a disservice because there are clear international influences there.
I don't know about you, but if I'm going out for a show I do think of grabbing dinner before (or after) as well. If I'm going to be out, why not indulge in a little somethinge extra?
Sansho has a great inventive fusion menu which combines plenty of Asian influences and mixes them up together. The delicious combination of tastes goes a long way to justifying the expense. Try the smoked pork and octopus fried rice (pictued) which is sublime!
I moved to Prague after having lived in Belgium and finding a good Belgian restaurant was high on my list of priorities at the time. Les Moules didn't - and still doesn't - disappoint me.
The W, on Wenceslas Square, has attracted lots of press especially because of the wonderful preservation work on its facade. Shimmy through the grand glass doors and find the W Lounge on its ground floor for a drink or two next time you're in the area.
A risotteria which is also completely gluten-free is an unusual concept. The name is a non-sequitur; they have more than just risotto which widens the choice. The ambience is lovely, the food is delicious and the service is second to none.
