Wine bars are a dime a dozen in Prague with everyone claiming to be unique, not always convincingly. Aleb Kitchen & Bar is a cosy Middle Eastern wine bar with some regional, as well as European, wines.
Fumo cocktail & lounge bar
It feels like more entrepreneurs are focusing on cocktail bars - I'm seeing more places with specialty menus and comfortable armchairs. I'm not complaining, mind, because this is what can really make a night out special.
Osteria Mensa
Location is important if a restaurant is to survive, but a great location without passing trade needs to be good if its to attract custom. That's one reason to value out-of-the-way places, but with the river close by I don't understand why Mensa isn't more popular already.
Isaac’s BBQ
Old hands will remember the Dirty Dog food truck at Manifesto and wonder where it went. Isaac is the man behind it and he's set up shop in the city centre.
Dolce Mente
The Italian community will hate me for directing more traffic to one of their best-kept secrets, but it's hard not to be delighted with Dolce Mente. Apart from whatever's on the menu, they bake fresh pastries on site.
The Dutch Pub
There's absolutely nothing Dutch about the The Dutch Pub. Maybe its just their way of attracting tourists or Heineken lovers. Either way, it's a great place to hang out, watch sports and have a beer so who cares which country it claims to represent, right?
Villa 63
Nestled in the middle of leafy Vinohrady, Villa 63 is a beautiful and spacious place with an amazing garden. Their brunch is in high-demand so make sure you get there early, and then spend a lazy morning sipping your favourite spritz on a deck chair in the garden. Or try their delicious brunch options.
Napoletana – Original pizza
My quest to find great pizzerias in Prague took me to the depths of Prague 3. It's not large - seats about 16 people - and it's unassuming, but that can be a good thing.
La Paisanita
Specialising in empanadas - also available to cook at home - La Paisanita's new restaurant in Dejvice is a great place to get that authentic Argentinian hit.
LOKA Masaryčka
With a thousand places to grab coffee in Prague, it can be hard to pick a favourite. Loka in the new Masaryčka building is bright, open and airy. Their snacks - shawarma wrap, mmmm - are a great accompaniment too.
